Try Googling the name of the parish, just on the off-chance. I found one for Orsa parish that way, which some generous soul has compiled and posted - http://privat.bahnhof.se/wb531085/byregister.htm Ancestry indexes theirs at the bottom of each screen if you click on I think it's the "show details" option? (I gave up my Ancestry subscription a year or so ago when I got ArkivDigital instead, so I can't check.) This is also very handy for comparing old vs. modern spelling, since their index uses the modern. Like Brenda, who replied earlier, I have also found that often a family is around the same page number in a subsequent book - or if the priest numbered the households, they might very well be at a similar number in the next book. You can sometimes narrow it down by rota, if you know which rota your village was in and if the priest noted that in the books as some did. To: [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> Message-ID: <[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> > Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Hi, If there is no index to the farms and villages within a given parish at either the beginning or the end of an HFL volume, is there anything I can do other than just click through every page to find the village or farm. Right now I'm looking for Svenarum Norrg?rd (also called Svenarum G?stgivarg?rd) in J?nk?pingslan 1867-1871. Thanks. Harriet Peterson
