Dear Bo, Thank you for the tip to look at Karlstad's prison records, where I found Eric Johan Skogstrom who falsified something in 1868 and did go to the prison for a year. At Fångvårdsanstalten i Karlstad DIIIfb:9(1868-1868) Bild 131 (AID: v167834.b131, NAD: SE/VA/11582) in the third main column it says "Förfalskningsbrott – Magistraten i Carlstad." Does that mean he falsified records AT the Magistrate in Carlstad or they were the ones who caught him? Could you help with a few words in the next column? I read "Den 22 dennes under?? ?? inför Rådstafs(?) Rätten i Carlstad -- 1868 den 25 Juli ankom och kunggjördes Rådstafs Rätten i Carlstad Utslag af den 22 i samma månad ??? Skogström för förfalskning af skuld, förbindelse ?? 900 Riksdaler blifit dömd att undergå ett års straffarbete samt under tio år vara förlustig medborgerligt förtroende. Skogström med utslaget nöjd, började den 25 Juli undergå bestraffningen." So it sounds like he falsified some records, maybe at Carlstad's Magistrate, that involved a debt of 900 Riksdaler and we have already been through his sentence (thank you for that information earlier). He was satisfied with the sentence and started it 25 July. There is some more information about this at Fångvårdsanstalten i Karlstad DIIIaa:12(1868-1868) Bild 66 / sid 55 (AID: v167746.b66.s55, NAD: SE/VA/11582). In the column describing his looks, after hair is "ansigt" (or ansikt) and I cannot read the answer, it looks like "vvart". Under height, it looks like they used feet (?) so he was 5 feet 7 ?? In the next column, it says "förfalskning ??? af ?? Rätten i Carlstad." Thank you so much for your help, Nina
