    3. Does anyone have an idea about how to find out about dissenters in the 1800's. I am helping a person who has Methodist dissenters in Goteborg og Bohus-Tossene- Johan Jacob b.1836 . The records are fairly non-existant for this parish but I am wondering about the dissenters. Any idea?s-and thank you. Virginia Lindsey

The church records included everyone, also those who where members of other religions/churches than the Church of Sweden. If you suspect your Johan Jacob was born in Tossene, perhaps he can be found in the "Sockenlängd" (parish population list) created by the "Sotenäs personhistoriska förening". Tossene SNL:18 (1830-1840) Image 1 (AID: v187794.b1, NAD: SE/GLA/13568). I don't see your Johan Jacob in Släktdata's reconstructed birth lists for Tossene, but there is a man named Johan Jacob Amundsson born 1805-02-05 married to Marta Lena Svensdotter, and they had a daughter Johanna Charlotta born 1839-11-15. Johan Jacob Amundsson died 1882-06-22, in his estate inventory is not mentioned a son Johan Jacob as heir. Tunge, Stångenäs, Sörbygdens och Sotenäs häradsrätt FIIa:36 (1882-1884) Image 304 / page 593 (AID: v65943.b304.s593, NAD: SE/GLA/11098). There is a son Johan Albert, but according to Släktdata, he was born 1844-01-06. // Bo Johansson
