Adolf Svensson, born 13 December 1883, Osby parish, Kristianstad, married Bertha Elvira Linder on 12 October 1918. They are last found in Maglehm parish, Olseröd no. 9, HFL AIIa:4 (1926-1936), image 2950, page 285. AID: v250918.b2950.s285 Adolf apparently changed his name to Allenby and they are the first entry on p. 285. He worked at the railroad station I think. Why would he have changed his name from Svensson to Allenby? Can anyone find him in the Death Index? Another reference as to the Allenby name change may be found in the lower right corner of this AID: v252721.b760.s66 Ravlunda parish, HFL AII:3 (1917-1932) p. 66 The notation on the far right is difficult to read but refers to his marriage.... I think. Thank you so much everyone! The help on this list is invaluable. Mary

No more reason was needed. Notice lower down, the foster daughter Rosa Sylvia Truedsson also gets the surname Allenby, by government resolution 1933-06-02. > > Can anyone find him in the Death Index? > > Another reference as to the Allenby name change may be found in the lower > right corner > of this AID: v252721.b760.s66 Ravlunda parish, HFL AII:3 (1917-1932) p. 66 --- The name Allenby was taken here, by government decision 1918-03-19. Here his title is "stations-skrifvare" (railway station clerk). KM = Kunglig Majestät (royal majesty), that is the government, either national government or county administration. It was more difficult after 1901 to change surname, it needed an official decision. > > The notation on the far right is difficult to read but refers to his > marriage.... I think. --- First the name change, then the marriage. // Bo Johansson
