I am trying to figure out if the twins born to Gustaf Aspling and his wife were two boys or a boy and a girl. They were born and died in 1789. Their birth is recorded here, born 3 March. I can't tell if it says Jonas and Johanna or Johannes. Tysslinge C:3 (1760-1797) Image 176 (AID: v52465.b176, NAD: SE/ULA/11610) On the HFL it definitely looks like Jonas and Johanna. Tysslinge AI:8 (1786-1790) Image 240 / page 233 (AID: v52421.b240.s233, NAD: SE/ULA/11610) But then here is a death record for son Johan, buried 19 Apr 1789. Tysslinge C:3 (1760-1797) Image 283 (AID: v52465.b283, NAD: SE/ULA/11610) The top of the next page has another son, not named, buried 17 May 1789. Tysslinge C:3 (1760-1797) Image 284 (AID: v52465.b284, NAD: SE/ULA/11610) On the HFL Aspling is marked out and it looks like Skoft is written above it. Would that be his soldier name? I haven't been able to find him in the soldier database or anywhere after this HFL. I just came back to this family to see if I could find anything that I missed before. Thank You. Annette

Alum worker Gustaf Aspling's and its wife Anna Bengtsdotter's at B.C. Alum-works twin children... I see in other births on the page that they specify son or daughter, and I see that twin girls born 21 July 1791 are called "döttrar" (daughters). Perhaps this indicates your twins were of different sex? But on the other hand, on 7 Dec 1788, twin boys (Petter and Arvid) are recorded as "2 barn"... > > On the HFL it definitely looks like Jonas and Johanna. > Tysslinge AI:8 (1786-1790) Image 240 / page 233 (AID: > v52421.b240.s233, NAD: SE/ULA/11610) --- Twins ("gemini") Jonas and Johanna born 3 Mar 1789, both died 1789. > > But then here is a death record for son Johan, buried 19 Apr 1789. > Tysslinge C:3 (1760-1797) Image 283 (AID: v52465.b283, NAD: SE/ULA/11610) --- Buried 19 Apr 1789, alum worker Gustaf Aspling son Johan, age 1 month. > > The top of the next page has another son, not named, buried 17 May 1789. > Tysslinge C:3 (1760-1797) Image 284 (AID: v52465.b284, NAD: SE/ULA/11610) --- Buried 17 May 1789, alum worker Gustaf Aspling son, age 2 weeks and 3 days (suspect typo, should probably be 2 months and 3 weeks). These must be the twins, I would suspect an error in the death records, but I don't know how to make sure. > > On the HFL Aspling is marked out and it looks like Skoft is written > above it. The remark says he was "commenderad" (ordered out in war service) 1790 to the army in Finland. Perhaps he died in Finland, this early that would probably not be recorded in the home parish death/burial records. The soldiers in Tysslinge parish seems to be in Närke och Värmlands regiment 3rd or 6th company, or Livregementets Husarer 2nd company. // Bo Johansson
Thank you, Bo. I guess the sex of Jonas' twin will remain a mystery. This priest didn't seem to be very accurate in his record-keeping. Daughter Elsa Sara was wife Anna's illegitimate child. I found her birth but not her death, which the HFL says occurred in 1783. Daughter Anna was christened Johanna in the birth records. I couldn't find her death in 1785 death records. Looking for Anna Bengtsdotter Rudberg, I found that Gustaf died in the war in 1790. It looks like Anna married again to Lars Stenbeck and she died in 1795. At least I think that is what it ways here. Tysslinge AI:9 (1791-1795) Image 255 / page 252 (AID: v52422.b255.s252, NAD: SE/ULA/11610) It looks like another branch has come to a dead end. Thank you.
