    1. [SWEDEN] Help with understanding Anna Catharina's 1844 bouppteckningar please
    2. Kevin Walker via
    3. I have managed to located the bouppteckningar for Anna Catharina Magnusdotter (sometimes Mangidotter or Mänsdotter) at Västra Göinge häradsrätt FIIa:71 (1844-1844) Image 1660 Page 74. This is a great find because her list of heirs are all familiar to me and consequently confirm the family connection I believe existed. But I don't understand much of the document. Anna Catharina died 28 Aug 1844. She never married, that I know of. She tended to move about with her nephew, Jöns Olsson, who as stated resides at Gammalstorp Hus in Farstorp parish. Why is Jöns singled out so early in the document? Is he a special heir in some way? Elna Jönsdotter is mentioned next. She is Anna Catharina's younger half-sister. She is married to Pehr Dahlbom (his patronym was Jöransson). What is the comment after his name, something to do with Färlöv (? ? kallad I Färlöf socken)? The shoemaker Jöns Olsson is next (same guy as above), along with his brother Håkan Olsson in Ubbarp (who appears to be present (närvarande). Both are nephews (sons of Anna Catharina's elder half-brother Ola (aka Ola LIND)). Torparen Jöns Nilsson in Qvittinge (Gryt parish) is next, and also his brother Tufve Nilsson in Färlöv. Both are sons of Anna Catharina's younger half-brother, Nils Jönsson (aka Nils LIND). Also Magnild Nilsdotter, daughter of Nils LIND and married to John Larsson of Vinnö (Färlöv parish). Next are Karna and Lisbeth Nilsdotter, the two remaining daughters of Nils LIND. I see the word 'omyndige' here, which I believe means underage. But Karna and Lisbeth were not underage in 1844 (they were born 1813 and 1820). Both girls were unmarried in 1844, but both had sons. Karna's son Nils Olsson was born in 1840 and Lisbeth's son Ola in 1843). What is the meaning of 'omyndige/omynidig' in this case? Why is Jöns Olsson of Qvittinge mentioned again in the next paragraph, and then tenant farmer Torkel Nicklasson of Tviggasjö? As this is the first time I have tried to read an estate inventory record I'd like to get a good understanding of what it says, and the roles of each family member mentioned in it. Some of those people are mentioned again on following pages with amounts of money against their names. Would these be debts owed to those people, or are they bequests? Many thanks Kevin
