    3. Bo, I cannot thank you enough for all of the records you've shared!! Your kindness is much appreciated! Thank you for taking the time to do the research and send this information! Perhaps you can help me to clarify a couple of things. 1. QUESTION:How do I record the location of "soldier cottage 122 Målen under Smedserum" as shown in the birth/household records. A google map for "Smedserum" shows it east of Locknevi. Is this the accurate location? Other records indicate that she was born in Tuna, which is way to the south. Birth Record: There is a Brita Maria born 3 July 1824, parents Jonas Bohm and Maja Stina Nilsdotter (age 37) of Målen, in [H] Tuna C:2 (1755-1826) Image 242 / page 473 (AID: v41391.b242.s473, NAD: SE/VALA/00389). They are found at soldier cottage 122 Målen under Smedserum, in [H] Tuna AI:7 (1822-1825) Image 137 / page 128 (AID: v24218.b137.s128, NAD: SE/VALA/00389). -------------- QUESTION: Is there any way using the information provided to get a sense for their position in society? I mentioned in an earlier post that the "family lore" is that Ida had been raised wealthy circumstances, but her family bankrupted the family. I'd like to try to figure out if there's any truth to this. In American records, you can get a sense for the families position in society: did they own or rent their home? how much was it valued at? what was the occupation? Clearly, Ida's family was not wealthy in the 1880s and 1890s following the death of her father. But, what about before that? Is there any way to know? -------------- QUESTION: Several of the men (Jonas Born, Jonas Myrong & Nils Johan Brutus) are recorded as being "soldiers." Is there any indication of their "rank" or anyway to find out?? Would this information help, in any way, to shed light on the families' positions in society? LOL -- I don't care either way. I'd just like to get a better sense for what their existence was like and whether the "family lore" might be true! In some European cultures, the aristocrats had the first son inherit and the other sons go into law, the military or the clergy. So, I suppose there's a chance that the "family lore" is true Many thanks!
