I believe that years ago, the Lutheran Church was the official Church of Sweden. Many, like my grandparents on both sides, didn't want to belong. On one side, they were Baptists and on the other, Evangelical Free Church. I think they all came to America because of this. I d on't know if they were actually persecuted.
