    3. Dusty -- I have no research sites to give you, but here is what I have from research into my great-great grandparents --- --- 10-27-1858 Summoned to Lund “Lund is where the diocesen court was located. Persons joining churches other than the state church (Evangelical Lutheran) were sometimes called before this court to account for their actions. I’m presuming that is what happened here, since they are noted as Baptists, so could have joined that church in 1859.“ (as per Genealogical Library, Utah) He was summoned to Lund to the diocesen court. That is what happened to many dissenters, e.g. Baptists. They were questioned, threatened and sometimes imprisoned. Since the Lutheran Church was a State Church the police authorities were involved and quite a few were brought before the court. It would be very interesting to hear what happened when Nicholas was questioned by "domkapitlet" (the court) in Lund. Was persecution or bad behavior from the authorities a reason for their emigration? I think that he was baptized and had joined the Baptists before October 1858 and that this was the reason for summoning him to Lund. The local priest had probably reported to the bishop. The Baptist Church in Yngsjö (Åhus) was founded in 1856. --- On 7/7/2015 9:04 AM, Barbara Young via wrote: > Hi Dusty, > > Some of my tree - siblings of - were Baptists.
