    1. [SWEDEN] Location of Konkkin in Jönköping?

    3. *Does anyone on this list have any idea where Konkkin in Jönköping is located?* I think it probably is not spelled correctly? This is the birthplace of John Fredrick Petersson, according to his obituary from Rockford, Illinois. He was born on 1 January 1834. The following is from the Rockford, Illinois newspaper concerning his Swedish roots. *"The deceased was born in Konkkin, Jönköping, Småland, Sweden, on New Year's Day, 1834. He became affiliated with the Masonic Order in Sweden and the highest honors obtainable, the thirty-third degree were conferred upon him by the late Swedish king."* Once again I have to ask the generous people on this list. Thank you! Mary

There is a Johan Fredrik born 1834-01-31 in Jönköping Kristine parish (in Jönköping county), parents "karduansmakare" Anders Petersson and Katrina Elisabet Billström. This would imply that Johan Fredrik used his father's surname Petersson instead of the patronymic Andersson. A "karduansmakare" was a tanner handling fine leather. BTW, there are no births recorded 1 January 1834 in Jönköping Kristine or Jönköping Sofia parishes.
