    1. Re: [SWEDEN] Three emigrating Hamberg brothers

    3. Thank you, Lois. You are right about Jonas, it can't be him. I can't seem to find him anywhere, but will keep on searching. As for the Brother Nils, I got confused about the fact that he was not married in 1915, when this Nils and Tilda was married in 1910, so I assumed it was the wrong Nils. But he probably was divorced. He moved back to Norway and died of cancer in 1925. He was buried in the village where my great grandmother lived. It is possible that Peter/Peder/Per Hamberg married a woman named Helen from Denmark. They had a daughter Addie, who also was born in Denmark. I found them in 1920. This Helen must have died between 1920 and 1924, because Peter marries a woman named Emma Helen Rupp in 1924. He was then a widower. I can't find Addie, but will keep on searching for her as well. Thanks for the help you provided. The Jonas in this record was 20 years old in 1889. On 1/2/2016 3:10 PM, Hanne Lillian Hanssen via wrote: My great grandmother had three brothers who emigrated to the States: Nils, Peder and Jonas. They were all born in Alsen, Jämtland, Sweden by parents Erik Jonsson (Hamberg) and Karen Olofsdotter/Olsdotter. They moved to Norway where the took the name Hamberg. My great grandmother, Emma Hamberg, was born in Norway, and the brothers emigrated from Norway. One brother Olof stayed behind in Sweden with his aunt and uncle, he was handicapped. Jonas Eriksson Hamberg was born 30. Aug 1863. He emigrated to Oconto, Wisconsin in 1889 from Trondheim, Norway. http://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/gen/vis/8/pe00000000099780 (There is a Jonas Hamberg in Oconto, Wisconsin, but I believe that is a different Jonas, who is born in 1868/69, and I think this Jonas has a brother named Carl.) There is also a Jons Hamberg who emigrates to Quebec, Canada 23 June 1887 on the ship Montreal, but I don't know if this is him. Nils Eriksson Hamberg was born 09. May 1866. He emigrated in 1891 to Fisher Polk, Minnesota. http://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/gen/vis/8/pe00000000108390 He travels again in 1893, this time to Winnipeg, Manitoba. He is listed as not married and living in America. http://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/gen/vis/8/pe00000000117403 The last time he travels is in 1915. He has been visiting his Family in Norway from June 1914 to February 2015. He is a farmer, not married. He might have died in Norway in 1925. The third brother Peder Eriksson Hamberg was born 07. Oct 1871. He emigrated in 1902 from Trondheim. http://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/gen/vis/8/pe00000000144764 http://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/kb/uf/person/pu00000000110926 He died in Rutland, Vermont 23. June 1954. His parents are listed, and a Mrs Peter J Hamberg. I have been trying to find the right Peter/Peder Hamberg, but I am not sure if I am able to find him. I hope someone could give me a helping hand with this one. When I think I might have found the right persons, I have to start all over again. I would be much Grateful for any kind of guidelines!
