Sorry to have taken a while to get back. This what I have My Swedish ancestor is my great grandfather August Kandlin, born 17/6/1878 in Sweden & died 6/9/1946 in Hawthorn. His marriage certificate of 25/4/1912 state he is a carpenter whose parents were Ernest Kandlin (captain) & Marie Morist. August was a seaman (AB). I have his documents from the Shipping Federation Limited (address Glasgow) & Federated Seamen's Union of Australasia. I have his certificate of Naturalisation ( am awaiting his application to come) where the particulars state he was born in Batocanes, Sweden. His seaman's Certificate of Discharge Book states that his place of birth was Vadcarness, Sweden. A bit confusing. My problem is that there are no Kandlin persons in any Folkräkning, or indexed in Familysearch. I have tried variations like Kandelin, Kan*, Can*, *andlin, *andelin and more but not found any good candidates. My next try was August without a surname born 1878 in the 1880 Folkräkning, but there are thousands (as one would expect) so I need a location !
