Thanks Bo I did some more research after my post. The Christina was Christina Carlsdotter, daughter of Carl Johan Jönsson and Bengta Månsdotter. Bengta went on to marry Per Andersson, and when she died Per married Hanna Tufvesdotter. Looks like Christina was a sole survivor of previous marriages and effectively an orphan, taken in by Per and Hanna. I'm glad you took a look at the register. I had no idea what page 554 was all about. It occurred to me than Per had been to the USA in 1882, and had possibly returned for his family. But maybe he never returned. Instead, he bought their tickets and sent for them to join him. Maybe! I've been able to find Tilda and Sigri in the 1900 Census. Tilda Anderson, as she was in the USA, married Oluf Colman Dahl, a Norwegian, in Feb 1889. They had 8 children, and there is quite a bit about the family online. This is all I need on this family, thanks so much. Hanna was the granddaughter of Nils Jönsson Lind, and thus the niece of my Nils Olsson who went to Denmark. I extended my ArkivDigital subscription for a month to try and find out what happened to all of Nils Lind's 5 children. Whilst I would like to have found his father's (Jöns) birth and marriage this time around, I will wait for time to pass. I will shortly join the Denmark List and see what help I can find there. But given that no Swedish record of Nils Olsson mentions a parish in Norway, I think I'm most unlikely to find anything. My hope is that transcription of the 1870 Denmark Census will be completed before my great aunt passes. My only other option is to work my way parish by parish through Danish records (online and free thankfully) to see if I get lucky, starting with parishes closest to where Nils crossed into Denmark. And I can't be sure it was Malmö. Once again, thanks so much for the extensive help you've given to me this time around.
