Thanks for that Bo so this is FREDRIKSSON not HALLGREN. That's good to know let me know if you ever find Karl/Carl (Charles) Frederick HALLGREN anywhere. Also I have just found a document I have here that is of course in Swedish but it has Karl Frederick HALLGREN with the word In Swedish (Sailor) Not sure what it all means though. This may connect up with some thought that he was a Merchant Seaman by some of the family here. Hi Could anyone tell me are there any of the official exit Permit/ FLYTTNINGSDBEVIS records surviving that were issued by the pastor of the parish in Sweden from which the immigrant came from?? Where could I find them? Regards and thanks Dianna

Regards and thanks Dianna The moving certificate was given to the moving person, to be handed in to the pastor's office in the destination parish. No copy of the moving-certificate was kept in the departure parish, but they did keep a moving-out list, where some of that information was recorded. The Carl Fredrik Hallgren born 1869-11-19 in Söderhamn that Peter Lundberg found, is found in the Stockholm "rotemansarkivet" 1881-1882 with his foster parents, 1884-1885 alone at "Fyrfotan Mindre 7,8" in Klara parish, moved 1885 to "Bilagan" (usually a list of people leaving without giving proper notice), and in 1885-1886 he is in the book of missing persons in Klara parish. http://www.digitalastadsarkivet.stockholm.se/Rotemannen2012/Search.aspx Since it seems he left without giving proper notice, he is probably not in the moving-out records for Klara parish. BTW, it seems a bit suspicious that his father had the same name, it wasn't all that common in Sweden. Swedish Census 1880 has only two boys named Karl Fredrik living with fathers also named Karl Fredrik. One of them was still in Sweden in 1900, the other emigrated 1891 to N.America according to EMIBAS: Fredriksson, Karl Fredrik Arbetare (unmarried man) b. 7 Jan 1868 in Hjorted, Kalmar län (Småland) Emigrated 24 Aug 1891 from Gissebo Nr 1, Hjorted, Kalmar län (Småland) to Nordamerika Source: Household Examination Roll, p. 187 ------------------------- // Bo Johansson
HI Peter and Bo Thanks for your replies I have now just received Charles Frederick Hallgrens marriage certificate in Victoria 1897, it’s stated that his father was Charles Frederick HALLGREN and mother Mary ANDERSON. Father was an engineer. The age given on the marriage certificate gives his birth date about 1870 Stockholm. Is there anyway to find out if he was born to these parents about 1870 or if there is a Charles (KARL) Frederick Hallgren and Mary Anderson anywhere?? Kind regards and many thanks Dianna
I looked at the 1880 and 1890 Census, emibas and emmigratten 2003, and emiweb and did not see anyone matching. A little more info may help. Perhaps Bo has a few more ideas. -----Original Message----- From: sweden-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:sweden-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of dianna charles via Sent: Monday, August 17, 2015 12:15 AM To: sweden@rootsweb.com Subject: [SWEDEN] Charles Frederick HALLGREN HI Peter and Bo Thanks for your replies I have now just received Charles Frederick Hallgrens marriage certificate in Victoria 1897, it’s stated that his father was Charles Frederick HALLGREN and mother Mary ANDERSON. HI I am again starting to do research on the above who was born c1868/9 in Stockholm. Karl (Charles) F HALLGREN was in Victoria, Australia. He first appears in the Australian records with the birth of his first child Frederick Charles HALLGREN in 1892 in Carlton, Victoria. Karl F. HALLGREN married Kate /Catherine CUNNINGHAM in Victoria in 1897 his birth place given as Stockholm. Charles (as he became known as) was listed as a Dealer on the electoral rolls that he appeared on from 1902, he died in 1910 in Victoria aged 41. I would like to find any information on Karl F. HALLGREN leaving Sweden, if that is possible!! Also could anyone tell me are there any of the official exit Permit records surviving that were issued by the pastor of the parish in Sweden from which the immigrant came from?? I am at the moment waiting for the birth certificate of Karl’s b 1899 to see if there maybe any relevant information. Hope someone can offer some advise. Kind regards Dianna Sydney Australia.
