Thank you, Martin and Bo. Alfred and Augusta were my great grandparents, and in census records, Joseph was usually enumerated next to Alfred. I have most of the records for Alfred (and Augusta). I don't know if there was a cousin named Claes, but I do know that their brother Gustaf had a son with that name who later came to the US. Their father's brother, Johannes, was married to their mother's sister, Annika. I haven't researched that family. I show them as living on Dreven when they were sponsors for the baptism of Alfred in 1853. I visited Joseph's grave in Red Wing, Minnesota, in July and was given a picture of his only daughter, who never married and had no descendants. I thought I'd try to piece together what I could find out about Joseph's life. This give me a starting point. Thanks so much for your help.
