Hi, I could use some help translating the birth record for Bengta Olsdotter, 9 Sep 1741 archive digital - Östraby CI:2 (1736-1789) Image 20/page 13 It appears that Bengta was born 9 Sep 1741 in Töllstorp to Olaf??? I can not understand Olaf's surname or if there is a mother's name listed. Thanks in advance for any help. Becky Olson
I have included below the Source information from Ancestry.com for an individual that I need to study further. . REPEATING THIS PART OF EXPLANATION FOR SEARCH As I have posted on a few previous requests, I am looking for my namesake and great grandfather, Carl John Bloom. I know only limited things about him: He was born in Sweden. His birthday was 22 May 1847. He was a "stone cutter" by trade. He came to the United States at age 22. I have a copy of his declaration to become an American citizen on 15 October 1872. I have one letter between his wife and her mother (still in Sweden at that time) that referred to him as "Blom". In my search, I have now looked at over 1,000 parish birth records in Jonkoping, Ostergotland, Stockholm and Gavleborg. I am now searching Kalmar. I have several reasons for prioritizing those counties, but I have really no idea about his county of residence. I assume two things in my search: #1. His birth date, written in a bible that he gave to his wife, is accurate. #2. He would not have changed his given name, so I look primarily for Carl Johan or close similarities, but I do not assume that his father's surname was Bloom or Blom on the birth record. UNIQUE NEW SITUATION The record below, on the right side, has a Carl Hening, born May 22, baptized May 24. I believe it says that he was born in Doderhult ??k. I believe it says that his father was Carl M? Lundberg and his mother was Anna Britta Karlsdotter I am having quite a problem reading the Doderhult HE 1843-60 register (page 811-812 for "L") or even finding the Parish index of villages and farms. CAN SOMEONE HELP ME TO ANOTHER RECORD SO I CAN TRACK THIS GUY FORWARD IN TIME? My great grandfather's 3rd son (all children born in America) was named Eskal Henning, so I thought maybe this combination of Carl & Henning & birthdate was good reason to look hard for this person.. So, I really would like to find this guy and follow his history to a point where I can see if he emigrated to America. Thanks again for any assistance you might offer. There is a small squeezed in record: the 27th February (1786) was born Jonas Pärsons child(?) in Falebo and got (baptism??] the 29th and called Brita, witnesses ("Test."): Caissa Nilsdotter and widower ("Enkeman") Dryssling(?). Mother not mentioned, that was common in early records, where the main event was the baptism, not the birth. I think I see the family at Falebo in AD Vissefjärda AI:1 (1802-1809) Image 58 / page 99 (AID: v20295.b58.s99, NAD: SE/VALA/00426). There is a crossed-out daughter Brita, and below is Brita Jonasdotter born 1785 with husband and children, and her mother seems to be Kjerstin Börgesdotter, unless she is a step-mother. // Bo Johansson

But the husband's name seems to be Nils Svensson born Sandhem 1762. Perhaps an error, or this is her 2nd husband, after Nils Andersson and before Jöns Andersson. Probably an error because there is no Nils Svensson in the 1805 death records, only Nils Andersson of Stenhusgård, and he has the correct age for someone born 1762. There is a marriage 23 Nov 1788, Nils Andersson age 27, tenant farmer in Bäck Källagård, and Maria Andersdotter age 22, in AD Valstad C:2 (1757-1809) Image 279 / page 543 (AID: v58195.b279.s543, NAD: SE/GLA/13609). This weekend with the open access to ArkivDigital I planned to find baptism dates for 3 relatives. Because I ended up not having computer access until late Sunday nite, I didn't get a chance to locate the information. I am hoping that someone will be able to find the dates for me. I would like the baptism dates for Judit Teresia, born November 14, 1895; Erik Verner born August 14, 1898 and Rut Ingeboreg born December 15, 1900. Their mother is Emma Andorsdotter and no father is shown on their birth records. I have copies of the church records for all of them but not baptism dates. Thank you so much for your help. Linda, Judit Teresia was baptized on November 22, 1895. Erik Verner was baptized on August 20, 1898. Rut Ingeboreg was baptized on January 4, 1901. I hope that helps. Thank you so much, Bo. You have given me a lot of information. I guess I will pick a date of birth for Maria to use in my software and add a note about the discrepancy in the records. I see Brita Jonasdotter born 27 Feb 1786 at AD Vissefjärda-C-2-1736-1810-Image-205-page-401. The birth note is written inside center columns on right. What does it say? I do see the farm 'Falebo' mentioned. Did mother die? I also think I see mother is Caisja? Also the word for widow? Brenda in Seattle

Banns number: 3 Banns date: 11 July 1875 Groom: Anders Anderson, worker from Direkullen(?) of Högstena parish, born 1854, 1st marriage. Bride Johanna Andersdotter, maid from Hagen(?) under Breckholmen(?), born 1847, 1st marriage, page 84 in HFL. Remark: both parties were present and stated their request for banns. Morning gift according to law. Marriage date: 15 Oct 1875. You get page number only for people from this parish, and it was common to marry in the bride's home parish. // Bo Johansson
