    3. According to the Google translation from Latin to English the word "Erysiplas" is shown to be a noun which is "holy fire". I guess if she had strep it might have felt like fire. On the second line, I felt that "pulom." had something to do with the pulmonary system. Thank you for helping me further with the cause of death for Gerda Lovisa as she was only 33 years old at her death. So I guess I will just > write the Swedish words without a translation as the cause of death. --- Well it is Latin, not Swedish, and since what we see is what a priest or parish clerk copied from a doctor's perhaps less-than-readable handwriting, the word might actually have been "Erysipelas". And the second line might be intended as "Embolia art. pulmon." (pulmonary arterial embolism). // Bo Johansson > > Wayne/Lanny Sangster wrote Fri, 16 Nov 2012 16:27:46 > > Could the first word be *Erysipelas*, a form of strep, now treatable > with antibiotics? 3. The first word is what Bo has written. I have not been able to find a translation for either the 1st or 2nd words. 2. Naomi, I don't see them on the Emihamn database nor the Emisal (Swedish American Line) database in the 1940s and 1950s. I do know that there are hits for other people in that time period. I think that Emihamn stops after 1951. (I found 325 hits on Emihamn for 1951 and no hits after that year.) The Emisal database seems to stop after 1950. Maybe they flew. I don't know of any database for airline passengers. By the way, I didn't see your original post. I was in Texas for my aunt's 90th birthday party, and we had a bit of a family reunion with my brother and cousins, etc. There was no access to the internet at my aunt's house and I didn't have time to look at email at the hotel.
