    3. There is a village Tursköp in Kattarp parish, Malmöhus county. There is a parish named Östraby, and several villages in other parishes named Östraby, including one in Kattarp parish. And as mentioned, there is a village named Svedberga in Kattarp parish. 3. I found in a record in Østfold, Norway that Johan Jacob Jacobsen was born 1836 in Bohuslän, Sweden. I see that this is in Gøtland and is next to Østfold, Norway. How would I find a parish for his birth? Thanks for any suggestions. Virginia Lindsey

    3. Hello Barbara, There are no HFLs for Kattarp prior to 1813 and I see no moving records prior to 1850. I found no parish named Turskiöp or Småkãrshuset nor are there a locations by that name in the 1813 HFL. (õ is not a character in the Swedish alphabet.) There is a parish named _Ö_straby in Malmöhus county, the same county where Kattarp is found. Found Sv(w)edberga is a location in Kattarp parish. I am looking to see what I can learn about Sven Larsson, but would like to know how you know how many children these people had. -- *Lo in Flo Lois Kälander Casson Pensacola, Florida USA* On 5/14/2014 4:50 AM, Barbara & Leon Rochoy wrote: > Hi there > > > > Please, could some kind soul help me, in tracing family groups in the > 1700's. First of all, all four of my great grandparents on my mother's side emigrated from Sweden to the U.S. in the 1870s and 1880s. They were from Kalmar and Östergötland. I've managed to trace my Swedish ancestors back into the 1700s using the wonderful Swedish records and with invaluable help from people on this list, especially Bo and Martin. I then wanted to see if I could find any living Swedish cousins. So, I was able to trace descendants of the siblings of my great great grandparents, who did not emigrate, to the present day using available records and, again, with help from people on this list. The result is that I have located seven living Swedish cousins, not close cousins (typically 4th cousins) but cousins nevertheless. We are going to Sweden in June and are planning to visit two of these cousins. One lives in Norrköping and the other (who is 96!) in Värnamo. Needless to say we are very excited to have this opportunity. This is a great list and it has many very helpful people. I want to thank them all for the help that they have given me over the years. I hope that I will be able to help others as well in the future. Cheers, Bob Lightburn p.s.
