    3. I've done DNA testing on Ancestry (about 1 year ago) and found several matches with current researchers which proved helpful. The results provided evidence of my varied ethnic background which was mostly Northern Europe; Sweden, German, English. 3. I did both the Y-DNA and mitochondrial DNA testing with Family Tree DNA several years ago. I was pleased with the Y-DNA results as it pretty much confirmed that a suspected male cousin, albeit a distant one, and I share a common male ancestor. 3. Hi to all Thank you for all your suggestions , Unfortunately the Swedish Letters get lost in the system, being replaced by ? and other symbols. I have gotten most of the family information from the DDSS site (The names of the Places and children) and followed them, by finding the Baptism records. I will now try the Tax records, (Thanks for your suggestion BO, You are a great and wonderful help to us all,) although my Swedish language skill is NIL. All your help is greatly Appreciated Thank You Barbara

OK, I see their 7 children on DDSS: 1780-09-10* Ellna - Swen Larsson - Swedberg - Kierstena Nilsdotter - Kattarp 1782-12-12* Boel - Swen Larsson - Swedberg - Kierstena Nilsdotter - Kattarp 1786-01-29* Nils - Swen Larsson - Swedberg - Kierstena Nilsdotter - Kattarp 1788-07-15 Hana - Swen Larsson - Swedberg - Kiersti Nilsdoter - Kattarp 1791-07-27* Ingar - Swen Larsson - Swedberg - Kierstena Nilsdotter - Kattarp 1794-08-05* Lars - Swen Larsson - Swedberg - Kierstena Nilsdotter - Kattarp 1800-06-12* Pål - Sven Larsson - Swedberg - Kierstena Nilsdotter - Kattarp Her death record 20 April 1808 only tells us she was Sven Larsson's wife in Svedberga, age 57. But we don't see their marriage record, so they were probably married in some other parish, and it was common to marry in the bride's home parish, so she was probably born elsewhere. Check the childrens' birth records, perhaps there are witnesses from other parishes with surname Nilsson/Nilsdotter, that might be her siblings. // Bo Johansson

Before 1998 it was in Göteborgs och Bohus county, which 1998 became part of Västra Götaland county. Perhaps someone can find his emigration in EMIBAS for you? You can try släktdata, many (but not all) parish records from mostly western Sweden are extracted in their database. Unfortunately, they have no Johan Jacob born 1836 with father named Jacob. There is one born 1834-12-17 at Grundsund in Grundsund parish, parents Jakob Larsson and Kristina Olsdotter (also one from Västergarn on Gotland). There is one born 1835-01-19 at Örtorp in Dragsmark parish, parents Jacob Dahlborg and Christina Wikström (also one from Hietaniemi in Norrbotten, and one from Guldrupe on Gotland). And none found born 1836-1838. But he can be from one of the parishes not covered on Släktdata (www.slaktdata.org).
