    3. Dear Lois, I didn't realize that a lot of the information being provided was being hand-typed. I thought it was just cut and paste. Being new to the list. I am not familiar with all the details and personalities yet. As for Pono finding the reference for me, I thought the details were accidently missed. I did note that Pono's use of Hawaiian in his message. When I was in the Navy I was stationed in Pearl Harbor. Our best friends and neighbors were locals and they excepted us into their Ohama. My son and their son were born in Honolulu just six months apart, they called my son their Hapa Haole Keiki. Two years ago we went to visit them on the Big Island, and they gave up their house to us during our stay. I meant no offense, just gratitude that the information was found. 3. Martin, Again thank you. I was having a challenging time trying to locate Samuel Jonasson in Rockford. Of course I wasn't certain if they had Americanized their name and yes it became Johnson. So I went after the mother's boupteckning and I found it. They had listed the names of the children(Hurray since often they "forget" to name the ones in America.) There was Samuel and the daughter Anna Louisa who was married to Gustaf Ryberg. Ryberg was a lot easier to search on Ancestry and I found them in Rockford. I was able o locate Samuel in a city directory but I am still missing some pieces. I tried to search for the sons and somehow I found the second son who was Nils in Sweden but he became Alric. I found that someone had Alric in their family tree and I sent him a message and he replied tonight. It is always very nice to make a connection and fill in some blanks. So thanks to you and to all the list (Bo and Pono) for making this happen. 1. Re: [SWEDEN] Peter Erickson Bolander birth in Sweden
    2. Lois Casson
    3. Hi, I've checked the Swedish emigration records on Ancestry, as well as a wild card search in the Swedish Census Records and found nothing. That doesn't mean that someone with the emigration CDs won't. Here are some things to be aware of. The year of birth on the 1900 US Census is notoriously 1 yr off. When emigrants used patronymics, it was usually the father's patronymic following the US tradition of keeping the father's surname, most likely Eriksson/Ericsson and not Erickson. The name Bolander may have been adopted after he emigrated and bears no relationship to the family in Sweden. If you haven't already, you should get a copy of his death certificate since it may contain his parents names as well as a complete date of birth. You should also be able to get actual copies off his application for citizenship which will likely identify place and date of birth and parent's names. Fold3 has images of those apps. I found my husband's Ukrainian grandfather's app there. You have two obstacles to overcome...correct name at birth and complete date of birth, and you may have to do some old fashioned research. On 7/3/2014 6:08 PM, Ruth Youngquist wrote: > Peter Erickson Bolander was born March, 1865 in Sweden. His first child was supposedly born in Escanaba, Michigan in December, 1890. He filed his Declaration of Intention in Escanaba in April, 1890. He then settled in Two Harbors, Lake County, Minnesota. He was naturalized in Two Harbors in April 1897. He is listed in Two Harbors with family in the 1895 Minnesota State Census. According to the 1900 US census for Two Harbors Peter Bolander immigrated in 1888. The census gives his birth date and states that he married in 1888. He married Anna Elizabeth Liljegren, born 1869 in Ljuder, Kronobergs, Sweden. (Her ancestry has been traced.) In the passenger list from Goteborg, Sweden in 1888 Anna is listed as a single woman, with destination Escanaba, Michigan. Her brother had settled there earlier. > Where in Sweden was Peter Erickson Bolander born? Where did he and Anna Liljegren marry in 1888? Their marriage was not found in Michigan records. 3. Dear Lo, Thanks for the info. I realize that subscribing to ArkivDigital would help in my research, however, I have no Swedish in my personal research, for I am doing this for the benefit of a friend of mine. He came to me in the hopes that I may be able to locate his wife's Swedish Ancestry. No one in her family have any idea where their family came from other than Sweden. I thought it would be nice to trace her family back a couple of generations into Sweden for her, as a surprise. I could definitely try the local LDS library, it is only open on Tuesdays here and this being a holiday week, they were closed. I do not mean to be an imposition. I do get a little enthusiastic whenever finding something new. Thanks to everybody on this list, I have found a couple of other trees that include some members of this family. However, I find some blanks that I hope to fill. If I am over stepping my bounds, just let me know, I will cease. Kind Regards, Lance -----Original Message----- From: Lois Casson Sent: Thursday, July 03, 2014 8:11 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [SWEDEN] Sven OLOFSSON Skaraborgs Hi Lance, On the list we try to get you established in Sweden and then help you to do your own research. That's why Pono gave you the source information and not all the data. That info was gleaned from site(s) to which he has a paid subscription and research can take a lot of time. You can access Ancestry and ArkivDigital free at any LDS Family History Center. You will find online instruction for doing Swedish research at FamilySearch.org. Bo will likely help with detailed info, and I hope you are keeping the source info he has given you. Doing all the research and then typing up all the details can be very time consuming and most people fade out once we have located your family. Lo On 7/3/2014 9:49 PM, Lance L. According to the age recorded he should be born about 1745. The 1801 muster roll tells that Ohla Modig in Nödarp died 15 Dec 1800, age 66, had served 28 years. According to the age recorded he should be born about 1735. The 1779 muster roll gives his age as 35, so born about 1744. The 1787 muster roll gives his age as 43, so born about 1744. 1. [SWEDEN] Peter Erickson Bolander birth in Sweden
    2. Ruth Youngquist
    3. Peter Erickson Bolander was born March, 1865 in Sweden. They did not marry in Sweden.
