    2. Lance L. Piatt via
    3. Dear List Members, Work being as it is, did not permit me the time to get to the LDS Library, during my lunch break as I have hoped. That said I did find one family posted online, incomplete as it was. Olof JONSSON (s/o Jon LARSSON & Maria ANDERSDOTTER) in Askjum (1742-1813) born ~1742 Gäddegården died 06 Apr 1813 (didn’t list where) married Skattegården, Askjum, Malma (R) (no date but had be before 1789) Anna ANDERSDOTTER (d/o Anders JONSSON & Anna OLOFSSON) in Askjum (1749-1807) born 23 Sep 1749 Malma died 12 Dec 1807 (didn’t list where) Not sure how to read these locations Skattegården, Askjum, Malma (R). I would assume, as I have seen in other countries Skattegården would be the farm or community; Askjum the town or village; and Malma the Parish. Can someone please clarify for me. Regards, Lance

    3. I lost Ola Nilsson in 1843 in Vittskovle. He arrived on the inflytt, found him on the HFL Vittskövle AI:4 (1837-1849) Image 134 / page 131 (AID: v101908.b134.s131, NAD: SE/LLA/13459) It doesn’t look like he went anywhere but is not on the next HFL or the utflytt. I even check the whole book to no avail. Could I ask for a 1870 + census check to see if he’s still around then please, and if he is there, and then I’ll backtrack. Thank you Rhonda

    3. I would really appreciate help in deciphering the occupation of one of my ancestors, Daniel Gabrielsson, in 4 consecutive HFL volumes. I expect he was a torpare, but I'm not sure. 3. Try Googling the name of the parish, just on the off-chance. I found one for Orsa parish that way, which some generous soul has compiled and posted - http://privat.bahnhof.se/wb531085/byregister.htm Ancestry indexes theirs at the bottom of each screen if you click on I think it's the "show details" option? (I gave up my Ancestry subscription a year or so ago when I got ArkivDigital instead, so I can't check.) This is also very handy for comparing old vs. modern spelling, since their index uses the modern. Like Brenda, who replied earlier, I have also found that often a family is around the same page number in a subsequent book - or if the priest numbered the households, they might very well be at a similar number in the next book. You can sometimes narrow it down by rota, if you know which rota your village was in and if the priest noted that in the books as some did. The heirs are thus the sons Anders and Gustaf Fredric and also the daughters Lisa Beata and Anna Caisa, all under-age, for whom [as] guardian was appointed the court-member farmer Olof Jansson in Löfåker for Anders and Lisa Beata, and master builder Anders Ålberg at Hammarby Bruk for Gustaf Fredric and Anna Caisa; and after the widow had been reminded about the correct reporting of the property, so it was reported in the order that here below is told. On can suspect that Anders Ålberg is a brother of the widow, and Olof Jansson perhaps a brother or other relative of the deceased master sergeant. Or something... // Bo Johansson
