This child is the top entry on the right page. What is the farm name? This child is the only possibility I have found for Soldier Oluf Kiellbergs child who died at age 2 in 1744 unless his child was born in a different parish. A little harsh I think. I don't care what generation your from, every individual will react in their own way and there's nothing wrong with the truth. My mother-in-law did a good friend really dirty. In retalliation, he proceeded to tell me that my then boy friend and now husband of 53 years, as well as his brother, were illegitimate and adopted by the man they knew as their father. My husband blew it off, his father was his father. It really got under his brother's skin. There were enough facts to eventually figure things out, but I think it's always better to have the truth. Was it really worth it making your gr aunt so upset? Her times were not the present times. I would not have said a word about it. It upset her and probably others and what was gained with the disclosure. Just a laugh and she has it for the rest of her life. Thanks Dusty, And with today's records we can go back and find out more of the truth. I had one of those strange experiences in 2008. I was visiting Sweden and it was National Day June 6th. We were at a community celebration and we met a woman (Mai-lis) who was a second cousin. She shared her history with us and she had been adopted into the family. She was a twin but the male twin was adopted into another family. They had had some testing done and they were twins but they had had different fathers. That felt very odd to hear this story. The next day we learned that Mai-lis died in her sleep. I have had a Swedish visitor this week, who was from her family and we were talking about the story. We were able to go to the birth records and there was her birth to an unwed mother. But the priest mentioned that her records were also in another parish. We looked at the second parish and yes, there were two children (twins) born to this mother. How she came to be adopted we do not know. My Swedish visitor said that this explained how a brother came out of the "woodwork" to take care of the funeral arrangements (and I suppose inheritance arrangements.) You do learn the most unusual things when you do research. I am searching for Lena Cajsa Peterdotter. She is living with her parents, Peter Olsson and Stina on the Household Examination: Kalmar: Långemåla, Household Examination 1829-1846 Al:2, image 100. (They were living in Lamnhults Torp, Hvitesten.) There is a line drawn through her name. I can not tell if she possibly died but I have checked to see if she appeared on the death pages for that time and I do not find her. (I am using Ancestry and it is difficult to make sure I have included all of the correct resource information.) Thank you for you help, Carol in KY

Occasional 1st cousin marriages are not all that genetically troublesome, the real problems come when it is common, when you have lots of marriages between 1st cousins, both of whose parents were 1st cousins, etc. // Bo Johansson
There was a Great Fire in Båstad 9 June 1870 where the church records were destroyed, so there is no birth record to be found. But the household records show his parents to be Carl Gustaf Bäck, b. 18 Dec (?) 1811 in Torekov and his wife Benedikta Christina Andersson, b. 25 Nov 1817 in Båstad. Yes, I have had similar experiences but different...I have helped a high school friend find his Swedish ancestors. My research was moving smoothly until ooops there came the share grandparents. And I had to tell my friend that his grandparents were first cousins. They left the country soon after they married and they never shared much of their Swedish history with their children... Of course if we go back far enough...my Kentucky ancestors were first cousins and they moved west immediately after they married in 1811 in Eastern Kentucky. Does make you wonder what genetic issues were created by such a close marriage. I have done a lot Swedish research, 4,000+ names through my paternal grandfather. Tonight I was working on a couple that seemed very familiar...locations primarily. I checked to see if I had a duplicate, and, sure enough, my 3rd Great-grand uncle married my first cousin 5x removed. I tracked them down through separate lines. I checked and found that apart from being spouses there was no blood relationship. He was born in Kinneved and her in Brismene. -- Lo in Flo Lois Kälander Casson Pensacola, Florida USA
