Finally...after several years of trying, I have come across his ancestors. I have been in touch with a fellow Whit. searcher, and somehow she found that Whittington is the son of Caleb Sweat, b. abt. 1772. Caleb's parents are John Sweat, b. around 1740, and Elizabeth Graham. Siblings of Whittington: Littleton, b. abt. 1804 in SC William B., b. 1816 in TN, d. Apr 19 1874 in Jackson, Arkansas I also have the following information: John Sweat Sr. - Will signed 23 Jan 1816; proved 7 Jun 1818 in Fairfield Co., SC (Bk 7, pg 227). Children of John & Elizabeth: Caleb Joshua Temperence (Tempy) John Jr. I cannot guarantee all of this, but I do believe the names are correct.
