I am seeking help in solving a mystery!!! I have Joseph N Sweatt marrying Sarah Elizabeth McMillen Dec. 18, 1867 Logan County KY... at the home of John McMillen and C M McMillen as witness.. This is my mystery.. Sarah Elizabeth McMillen Sweatt's death certificate states her father was John Sweatt and Amoline Young as mothr.. I need help locating her parents.. The certificate states her father was born in KY.. The Sweatt famililes coming in from Wilson County TN to Warren, Logan and Butler Counties didn't arrive until after the 1840's.. which would make her father 4-10 years old at her birth in 1848.. I know death certificates are sometimes full of misinformation.. (My great grandfather's states his father was born in Germany... OOPs let's look at McMinn County TN.. even his grandpa was born in SC)...But I do need help figuring this out.. Lynne

My Grandmother who was black was named Roxie Sweatt-Carson she married George Lucian Carson. The Carsons' and the Sweatts' were very close over many years. On the front is written Robert Sweatt. On the back is the studio in Bowling Green Ky. I looked in census records and found 2 Robert Sweatt in Ky in 1880. S. E. Poplar Bluff, MO. Parents was Thompson Sweat and Tempa Crabbe/Craffe [not sure of the spelling on the copy, but I think it is Crabbe]. They were born in GA. John was a farmer,m. Mary Jane Crews of GA and had 7 or 8 children. John, Mary, and 1 son Hobert are laid to rest in the Ashcroft Cemitary in Poplar Bluff, Mo. Their son Douglas is laid to rest in the Woodlawn Cematary, Poplar Bluff, MO. What saddens me is I lived joining the Woodlawn Cematary for 6 years and never knew my uncle was there. John A. Sweatt married a Mary J. [possably Jane] Crews from Dexter, MO. They both are buried in the Ashcraft Cem., Poplar Bluff,Butler Co., MO. Children of John and Mary: Vernon [Dale, I think] Sweatt, m. Nancy Jane Romans abt 1920 in West plains, Mo. then m. Fannie in Ark. Hobert A. Sweatt b.21Oct1916 in Paraguld, Ark. d.3Jul 1979 and burid in same cem. as parents. Douglas Sweatt Lloyd Sweatt may have married a Nellie in Poplar Bluff, MO. he died in Poplar Bluff. Aaron Sweatt Wilma Sweatt Aggy may have been Agatha Sweatt I think most of these children were born in Paraguld, ARK. I used to write Aggy years ago when she lived in California. Lost touch and I think of her often. Hobert and one of his brothers Douglas or Lloyd were carpenters in Poplar Bluff and built a lot of the homes there. My sister has a letter dated 1899 to a G. H. Crews in Bowman, ARK. Other names we have are: Dan. A. Crews, Daniel A. Crews, Ruthie Crews, Mr. J. E. Buch or k?annan, Mr. J. W. Bradly, D.H. Crews, Mrs. J. R. Crews on one side of a peice of paper and on the other side is a song "I Have No Mother Now" Also: George H. Crews d. 29Jan1899 M. E.
