My information says he is buried in Oakwood Cemetary Square 9. That is as far back as I have found. Does anyone know anymore?
I also have a Sweatt line. I have seen a paper where the name of my ggrandfather is spelled Swett, Sweat, and Sweatt all on the same paper. I also have talked with people who have at various times in their family had one t then two ts then back to one t. Also there are about 6or 8 spellings of the name Swet, Swete, Swett, Swette, Sweat, Sweatt, and Sweet are the spellings I have seen. And yes, even the Sweet is pronounced just like the other spellings. Patsy

His middle name was Fontaine. He told us that his family had some descendants of France but was mostly Welsh and Irish. They moved to New York many, many years ago and ended up in the Bronx. This may be an interesting connection to your question about the French relatives. We have lost contact with every single relative many years ago. But since Sweatt is a pretty uncommon last name...we may have a connection. I am very interested in my family history..but no one seems to know anything in my family. I would love to hear from you if you are interested to chat about roots. Have a good day. Karen

Sweatt on this same line (at least according to the 1880 census and his death certificate). I would appreciate any information you have on this line.
I am just trying to finish my research on the William and Martha Coe Sweatt Wilson County Tennessee Sweatts. Since I have never run over some of this information on the Internet about William's daughter I thought I would share with everyone what I recently found. Jemima Married to John F. Hancock 7 Dec 1842 in Wilson County. I lost them after the 1850 census in Wilson County, TN. I recently found them in Lamar County, TX. He and Jemima are there on 2 census. That is as far as I got so far. Please note that some of Henry County Sweatts also moved to TX. Sarah Married Calvin J. Spradley 4 June 1835 Wilson County. They moved with Calvin's family to Indiana!!! I lost Calvin in 1840 in Dubois County Indiana. But found Sarah remarrying to JOHN LISLE (spelled slightly different as in her mother's will) 16 Feb 1844 Warrick County, IN. I cannot locate her death date or burial, but did locate John's. Nancy Married to Joshua C. Bartlett 21 Dec 1835 in Wilson County. Remarried 23 Dec 1845 to Burr Harris 23 Dec 1845 in Wilson County and they moved to Smith County, TN. Cannot locate her death or burial. Her daughter (a Bartlett) remained with Burr and his 2nd wife after Nancy's death and I cannot locate information on her either. Rachel Married Joseph Lash 8 Dec 1830 Wilson County, TN and divorced 29 Oct 1835. She remarries to William Spradley 16 Feb 1837 Wilson County (Calvin's brother) and they also move to Warrick County Indiana. I have a part of William's will. I do not know her death or burial information. I do have Wm's. It is difficult to research Indiana records. I did not locate any more information for the old newspapers. The Spradleys was a large group in the area and every one of the Spradley son's used the names for the children and it's hard to separate them. I hope this will help anyone who is trying to research the Wilson County Sweatts. If you have any more information about these families, please share. That's what it is all about...SHARING. Lynne
