Born in FORDSVILLE, Ky. somtime between 1890-96, she goes on to marry one ALBERT SWEATT in God only knows what year. ;-) Same with when ol' Al kicked the bucket. I don't when or where he was born or died except maybe Kentucky. Anywho, she ended up with my Grandma in POMONA, CA. in the 50's. I have the pictures to prove it. ;-) Then in 1958, POOF!!, she ups & disappears. ;-) The family story is that she went to Los Angeles to live at a facility run by the Little Sisters of the Poor. Only THEY have no record of her at all in their archives.;-) The ol' Gal has fallen off the face of the earth. ;-) Any info or leads on this couple would be greatly apreciated. My 3rd gr. grandfather was Gadi Cook, whose father was born in S.C. in 1747, so they had been in this country for some time. I have found that the name was used primarily, if not exclusively by early families from the Pee Dee River region of South Carolina, and they all seem to have a relationship or connection to Gideon Gibson from Virginia who also lived on the Pee Dee. My Gadi Cook may be related to the Cooks and Campbells who later moved from S.C. back up into N.C., probably into the Robeson County area. The legends of my Cook line are very intriguing, in that they say our ancestor was a gypsy and someone in the family was Portuguese (or Spanish) and that the latter occurred due to pirates or piracy off the coast of S.C. I am very interested in verifying the pronunciation of the name (how your ancestors pronounced it), if any with the name Gadi came from South Carolina, and their physical appearance.

Marian - I don't recognize any of the Sweatt women in your family. But there was a Jack Sweatt who Married to Lettitia, who had a daughter name Sally and a son name Jordan.

My great, great, great grandfather was Calvin McKinney who married Nancy Sweatt. My great, great grandfather was Frank McKinney who married Sarah Sweatt. My great grandfather was James (Jim) Mckinney who married Sally Sweatt. Their children were: Hugh McKinney (deceased), Margie McKinney (deceased)(my grandmother), James McKinney (deceased), Christabel McKinney, and Geneva McKinney. They lived n Sugar Grove, Butler, Kentucky. They still own a small parcel of land in Sugar Grove.

Peg, Arema Sweatt was my gggrandmother, her daughtern Ellen Sweatt(Hester) was my ggrandmother.Ellen Sweatts daughter Martha Arema Hester was my grandmother and her daughter Mary Virginia Junior was my mother.
