My line is 1) Israel, 2) Russell, 3)Hiram Perkins, 4) Ethelda Sweat Roberts), 5) Orville Benton Roberts, 6) Mercedes Roberts Graham, 7) Me! You are not alone in trying to sort out the difference in names and dates for Israel & Sally. My g-aunt tried to complete a DAR application and hired some researchers to help her. There is a distinct possiblility that there were two Israel Sweats living in Maine/Mass during the same time period. They may have been father/son or uncle/nephew, cousins, etc.. If you use that dates from the census and land records, then our "grandfather Israel Sweat" could not have been the same "Israel Sweat" that is listed as fighting in the Revolutionary War in 1776. My g-aunt died 2 years ago and I have not been able to get access yet into her records, she had boxes of them and I haven't been able to go out of state to visit. My interpretation of the Sally/Sarah Ellen/Helen Russell names is that her name was probably Sarah Ellen Russell and she went by the "nickname" Sally because her mother was also named Sarah. Just my make on the subject, again I too have her listed different ways in old family documents. The best documentation that I can recommend is to go to rootsweb.com and go to Calvin W. Sweat's database "calsweat" He is very detailed in his work. I have got copies of old letters, etc. which your probably have some of the same with the different dates, names, family tales, etc. However, I have not yet been able to get documentation to add up either. I am trying to get a lot of very early Sweat pictures, mounted and identified so that I can scan them and share. It would be helpful if I was more computer literate. I would love to share and compare any information that I have and want to be able to swap pictures as soon as I can get them scanned. Look forward to hearing from you. Margaret
