I have his bible, which says nothing about it. His daughter, Martha Mary Jane Sweat Mott, lived into her 90's and never mentioned anything about it. There are descendants from Barnett's other children who might know something about it. Most of us show Ann Middleton as Barnett's wife, tho I've never seen good evidence for this. There may be something in the Jones bible about this (I've heard that the Jones bible started with Solomon K. Jones), but someone in the Kirton family disappeared with it. My mother and others have looked hard for records of such an adoption but many have disappeared.
