I am looking for my greatgreat grandfather I beleive his name is Nephi Sweat. b about 1800/1820. He married Adaline Walker who I also want to find. Can anyone help me.
I have at least two generations of George Washington Sweats. My GWS came to Gates, NC-Nansemond County, VA (now known as Suffolk, VA) in the mid 1880-1890s. I haven't been able to track the SWEATS, who are variously listed as Indian, mulatto or black in the census' prior to this. My genealogy gut guess is that they came from the Georgia-South Carolina area and radiated from there prior to 1817 and the Trail of Tears...the removal of Indians from the East to Indian Territory (now primarily Oklahoma) Help Sweat cousins- KamDeb@AOL.com
I am the ggrandaughter of a George Washington Sweat born in SC 4 Feb 1865 and moved sometime to Telfair County GA .He was married to Lula Varnum and was located in Elbert County Ga around 1900. I was wondering if this is the same GWS. Does any of this sound familiar?

Hello List, I have just subscribed to this list. I am a descendant of Gadi Swet who came to S C from Va. I have a little info but will be glad to share what I have. I can prove this much . Arron Sweatt m Nancy Peavy, dau of James and Sara Unknown Peavy. They had a son Charles Peavy Sweatt married Lucinda Coward parents unknown. They had a son Nathan Levere Boyd Sweatt married Eula Blanch Ellis. They had a dau Sarah Margaret Sweatt married Walter Jackson Brock. They had me, Patsy Brock Leviner. Gadi Swet came to the Pee Dee area of S C from Va about 1730 to 1760. He was an old man during the ARW. Known sons were William who had two known sons James and Nathan both served in the ARW. James a Baptist Preacher, went to the western part of S C. and Nathan II who went to Ga after the ARW. Gadi had another son Nathan who had two known sons Thomas and William. Then there is a gap in my research. I skip one or more generations to Benjamin born in 1786 (Benjamin may be a grandson of Gadi Swet., for both James and Nathan were in their teens when they fought for the Colonies.) But I cannot make a connection at this time. In the book "A History of Marlboro County" it says that Gadi Swet was an old man and was left alone by the British, even though he had descendants who fought against the British. Benjamin Sweatt married Rosa Unknown and had Aaron b abt 1814, married Nancy Peavy, Gadi II married Ellenor Gillespie, and William K married Unknown. As you can see my research is very sketchy but i am working on it. I will be very grateful for any info you can share. Patsy Brock Leviner
Good Afternoon, I am trying to find information on a Jesse Sweat. The information I have to date is somewhat sketchy at best :-) We're not sure if he was born in NC or SC and the year is about 1817. I feel that Jesse was married twice but have no proof of such. Sometime after 1852, he married Nancy Hewitt Parr, a widow of John Parr. Nancy Hewitt Parr had 4 children with John Parr (William, Mary Jane, Henrietta and Clement D Parr) Nancy Hewitt was born on 7-25-1822 and she died in May of 1900. She died in Berrien Co and is buried at Flat Creek Cemetery. Nancy Hewitt Parr and Jesse Sweat had 6 children: 1-Mary, born 1853 2-Julia Ann, born 1856 3-James W, born 1859 4-John H, born 1861 5-Robert, born 1863 6-Mary Jane, born 1866 I believe the first two or three children listed above to have been born in SC. Prior to the 1860 Census, Jesse Sweat, wife Nancy and the combined children from her previous marriage and their children, left SC and settled in Berrien Co., Ga. The 'Parr' families have remained in Berrien County through now. We believe Jesse Sweat to have died prior to the 1880 Census because he is not listed. His wife Nancy is listed as are her minor children with Jesse Sweat; she is shown living next-door to her son William Parr. If anyone has information on this family, please contact me. Regards, Nancy E. Parr

Was in Wake Co as an adult. Married Nancy Evans in 1792. I have the line from Allen forward. Need verified info as to his parents. He was friend of Exum/Axom Scott, son of Robert.
