She married a cousin, George Washington Sweat. The Sweat family is a pioneer family of north Florida. Molly's father was Jackson Sweat, Grandfather was Samuel Sweat and Great grandfather Abner. Would love to exchange information. Are you interested? I know very little about Molly' children.

It was interesting seeing some of my father's features in the two of them. I was very glad that you included Maudie's sisters' names in this posting. I knew from your previous e-mail that she had one sister, but I wasn't aware there were any others. Thank you for that information. I have been busy moving so I haven't had a lot of time to research lately. I had planned to go to the library here to see if they have a geanology section today, so this new information will be really helpful. If I learn anything, I'll be sure to post. :)

I do know that William Colon Sweat was in Hilliard's Legion, out of Montogomery, Al. but without my records I can't remember what company. I have a copy of his military records. But not a very good one. The original wasn't very good so I guess I should be thankful for what I have. I also have W. C. in the 1850, 1855, 1860 Montgomery, Al census records - which lists a son in the house named Samuel - He must have went to war with his father, because he dissappeared from the census records when his father did. It wasn't unusual for young men in the 10 - 14 year old bracket to go to load and unload guns and to help carry supplies. The only thing I am sure of, is that in the state & federal census for 1865 and 1870 - is that he was not in the census any more. Just Mary A.L. and the girls. I live in Lake City, Florida and am visiting my children in Colorado. When I get home I will check th! ru what I have and see if there is anything you might be interested in - I am always ready to share what I have with a relative. Send me your e-mail address or regular address to smithgriner@yahoo.com and what you need for me to look for.

Bryant. So, if I understand correctly, we share the same ancestry from Wm. C Sweat & Mary A.L. Milligan/James Sweat & Milley LLoyd . I have double first cousins on my Bryant/Mcdowell line. It is exciting to learn of another double. Where did Wm C live in 1860. I know he was in Montg. Co l850 in James A.Sweat HH. Are the 2 brothers? I have in my 20 year old records a notation that James A. is the son of Whittington but have no rememberance of where it came from. Did Whittington name any of his sons after himself? What about James Howell, father of our boys. Do you have anything on him prior to Al? I have both No & So Carolina in my records. One more question please. What outfit did Wm C searve & die in. Thanks

Sweat. He is not listed in my records as the father - but I think he is. I am interested in the family of Samuel & Mattie Howell, because I understood they didn't have any children. This is something I heard from my family who left Alabama and moved to Florida many years ago. We would be double relatives because Sam & James Howell married the Sweat sisters. I didn't know a lot about this side of my family until recent years because my grandmother Minnie Howell Goolsby died at age 41 - the grandfather married again. If you do find out more about this family I would sure appreciate any info you can share.

I think I have previously responded, however in case I didn't, I have a photograph of Jesse and Luvicia Sweat. Photo was taken about 1910. If you would like to have a copy, I will scan and send to you. My grandmother (Georgie Sweat) was Maudie's older sister.. Not sure I ever met Aunt Maudie, however I recall my grandmother talking about her. Also another older sister, Aunt Logan. I met her but I think she passed away when I was about 10 years old. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/FdQBAEB/117.149.1 Message Board Post: For many years, I have been researching the origins of the very unusual name, Gadi. My 3rd gr. grandfather was Gadi Cook, son of John Cook (b. 1747 in S.C.). I have found that all the men named Gadi in S.C. came from the Pee Dee Region and all or most seem to have descended in one of their lines from Gideon Gibson of Va. (born early 1700's) who also settled in that region. My Cooks legends are similar to those told by some of the Gibson descendants. My Cook ancestor was said to be "Gypsy" (possibly the PA German Gypsies who were called "Black Dutch") and "Portuguese (or Spanish)" The Portuguese blood happened somehow because of Pirates off the coast of S.C. I would very much appreciate help from anyone who has an ancestor named Gadi. I need to know any oral tradition regarding their origins, and how the name was pronounced by the ancestor (not by the way it is assumed to have been pronounced). I believe there is a common link to all of these families who had children ! named Gadi and if we find it, we could all benefit
