Thank you much for the tip, and I'll look forward to any further posts from you. Rapides Parish, I'm sure you know, is about dead center of Louisiana. My grandfather also had a much younger brother or nephew named Kenneth Sweat. He wasn't as I recall ever close to the family, but I know he is still alive, and still in central Louisiana. Perhaps that will give more clues. Also my grandfather, after the war, was in the contracting business and worked for Tudor Construction Company as a supervisor many years. My line began as the Ephraim & Olive Sweat to their son Ephraim Sweat to his son Robert Sweat. Robert was nicknamed "Bob" which to this day is a very popular family nickname in our family. Robert also had a son named Ephraim. I am aware of atleast one other early 1900's Sweat who was named Ephraim "Bud" Sweat. Have you seen the Erbon Wise Book on the Sweat Family? I have a copy at home in Louisiana, but currently I am in San Diego. I'll check that book. I bet there's a connection.

I've never heard of Olive Perkins, and certainly have no idea what our lineage may have been at 1750. The Ephraim Sweat I am researching was my direct grandfather, and I know he had old relatives in Arkansas. He also fought in WWII, in both the European and Pacific theaters. He served as a combat engineer, I have a picture of his unit number as the 1289th. I'm not really so much researching my grandfather, I knew him all my life- but I know very little about the family before WWII, and would like to know more. Have you any knowledge of a Sweat family in Arkansas in the depression years? Thanks again for you interest. John

I have the line done pretty much and there is no Jams Quarterman Sweat that I know. Abner had an older relationship (uncle or older brother) named Nathan Sweat, American Patriot/DAR. Most of then stayed around Ware Co, Georgia whereas my group came down to Florida
