She was full Cherokee, a chief's daughter. I have been searching and yours is the first reference I have found to Sweat as an Indian Surname. Do you have any ties in the Sweat line in Georgia? Easter was born in Alpheretta, Ga and died in Atlanta, Ga in 1927. My dad was her youngest child and she died in child birth with him. All I have with her name on it is his birth certificate, I have not been able to go back further than her and Joseph. Are there any connections here? Pam

Laura, Any help you can give us would be great. Basically I had planned to photograph some headstones in Atlanta and in Gwinnet County for Burels and Sweats. Also Dawsonville and Cumming for Perkins, Looper. Was hoping to go to Waycross Ga area for more Sweats. Figured I'd just take as many pics as possible and post them for all to use. There are also many civil war cemeteries around the Atlanta area that could be Saturday outings. If you would like to send me your tree, I can figure out how to work it in. We all have small pieces to one great big puzzle. If you'd like to volunteer to photograph some headstones that would be great. No one person can do it all. Will take pictures of any sweat headstone I find....lol I'm on a man hunt....I hope to create a huge database for this project. I'm also working on Burel, Perkins and Priest. I'm going to have a busy summer. There are also some confederate cemeteries around where I live. I may do those too as they would only be 5 or 10 minutes from my home. I have been getting a wonderful response from my announcement of taking pictures of Sweat Headstones. I've been writing so many emails back and forth to people that I finally got this wonderful idea to post on the mailing list. Imagine that. (yes I'm a blonde...lol) I will be going to the Eastview Cemetery in Atlanta, Georgia And I've gotten a wonderful list of others that not too far away maybe an overnight trip. I don't know where everyone is from on this list of if any of you are in Georgia, Florida or Tennessee. I am also aware that there are 2 different lines of Sweats here on this list also. I want to accommodate both lines. I can cover some of the southern cemeteries (hopefully all of them) Is there anyone here that knows of the other line and help me coordinate some research for that one as well. Most responses I've received have been for the Southern line, But this is the SWEAT list and no division has been made between the two lines. I'm compiling a list of cemeteries that have been sent to me so far and will post them later. If you know of any in the meantime send them to SWEAT-admin@rootsweb.com this is for all SWEAT surnames. I am an administrator for another mailing list and 3 message boards maybe we can make a trade between some other lists and this one for pictures and other records. I've also decided to post photos on a website that I'm creating. A friend is donating web hosting to me for my genealogy project. "Brushy Creek Cemetary" & "Flat Creek Cemetary", those are the ones with the Sweat Family also, the state arcives has the Cemetary listings all over the state of ga. for any name you are looking for as well as anyother information like: wills, land deeds, court records, etc. all personnal information on anyone. of course the 1930 census files have just been released also. talk with you soon. christy

Hello, Just a note to let everyone know that we now have an administrator for the Sweat-Mailing List. My name is Cynthia Perkins, and I am a Sweat Descendant, I am also the administrator for the Sweat Message Board. If you have any questions or need help with something, I will try my best to help.
