Swartwood (2001) and have identified this C.E. Swartwood as Cyrus Edward Swartwood on page 212. He was the son of Floyd Johnson Swartwood and Christena Irene Fannan and was born 12 January 1859 in New Milford, Winnebago County Iowa. He married (1) Ella Connell on 23 April 1881 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. They had one child who died in infancy. Ella (who was b. about 1861) died 23 April 1882 in Akron, Summit Co., Ohio. "Ed" married (2) Anna Knether about 1890. She was born December 1864 in Pennsylvania. They had two children, Helen born 28 October 1894 and Edward George, born 20 November 1895. "Ed" Swartwood played outfielder for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1892. He was 5'11" tall and weighed 198 pounds, threw right-handed and batted left-handed according to a website.
