Swartwood, age 67, of East Springfield, died Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at St. Vincent Health Center following a brief illness. Born May 5, 1943, in Erie,pa, he was a son of the late Robert Swartwood and Ida Ellen Ferrari Swartwood Baudau. Gary attended East High School and served in the US Army. He retired as an inspector after 42 years with Eriez Magnetics. Gary was a member of A.B.A.T.E. (American Bikers Aimed Toward Education) of Erie He was instrumental in starting the Tri Boro Archery Club. He enjoyed motorcycles, hunting, fishing and adventures with his grandson, Michael. In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his stepfather, Jack Baudau, and two brothers, Donald and Lee Swartwood. He is survived by his daughter, Lora Hughson and her husband Brian of Erie, his special love, Eneida Craig, of East Springfield, two grandchildren, Michael and Emma, as well as several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Stre! et East in Girard on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at noon on Monday in Burton's All Faiths Chapel with Rev. Darrell Greenawalt of Girard and Lake City United Methodist Churches officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery with full military honors provided by Girard American Legion Post 494.
