She was born August 9, 1930 in Cleveland, OHIO a daughter of the late Alva Swartwood and Evelyn Wulfman Frantz. Maridel was an avid reader of mystery novels, enjoyed traveling, history and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a graduate of Baldwin Wallace with a degree in Sociology and assisted her late husband Glenville Thomas with the All Ohio State Fair Youth Choir for many years. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where she participated in O.W.L.S. Club of Grace Church, American association of University Women and Friends of the Pioneer and Historical Society. She was a loving mother to her sons, Richard (Pam) Thomas of Nashport, Ohio and Brian (Melinda) Thomas of Pickerington, OH; loving sister to her brother Lowell (Marilyn) Frantz of Smithville, OHIO; loving grandmother to her grandchildren, Kyle Thomas, Jason Thomas and 2nd Lieutenant Geoffrey Thomas serving in the U.S. Army; and special friend Floyd Felumlee of Zanesville. In addition to her parents she was proceeded in death by her husband, Glenville Thomas who passed away December 2, 1991; and one sister, Enid Sahl. Special thanks to the staff of Emeritus of North Hills; Select Specialty Hospital and Genesis Hospice for the care and love shown to Maridel and her family. Calling hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8 on Friday July 8, 2011 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 1150 WEST MILITARY AVE. ZANESVILLE and 11 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Grace United Methodist Church 516 Shinnick St., Zanesville with Pastor Steve McGuire officiating. Burial will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Voices of Ohio, P.O.
