Eddie, My Mother always cooked a big pot of cabbage and put a dime in it(supposed to assure one would always have money thoroughout the year) and good luck.. We had other food besides that, the cabbage and cornbread was all I needed. Here, where my husband and I have migrated to, the New Years meal is Collard greens, blackeyed peas and hog jowl.
