    1. Re: Powell's Valley>abt 1790
    2. Having lived in Anderson County, TN, the last 20 years, every time I went from there to Cumberland Gap, TN, or Ewing, VA, I passed thru Campbell County and a long stretch known as Powell Valley on into Claiborne County, TN. A beautiful drive if there ever was one! In looking at a sketch of an old map which includes the dates when counties of TN were created, it appears that that portion of Powell Valley, TN, in 1790 may have been in Hawkins County. Greene County and Washington County connected to Hawkins and Sullivan Counties near the border of KY. Is this the same Powell Valley you are discussing in VA??

    3. Hi all: If this helps, I have a map that shows part of the Powell River Valley. This is on my Charles Cocke webpage at: http://www2.southwind.net/~crowther/Cocke/_StateVA.htm He lived in that area from about 1780 to 1805.
