    1. [SW_VA] Revolutionary War Additions 5/19/02
    2. I have made some additions to the Revolutionary War files at the site. I have added: 1) Daniel Morgan's Report on the Battle of the Cowpens 2) Nathaniel Greene's Report to Congress on the Battle of Guilford Court House 3) Letters from Greene to Congress about the pursuit of Cornwallis after Guilford (the latest one, 4/23/1781, goes into some detail about conditions in the Southern Department) 4) Reports from Francis Marion to Greene (one is an extract in which Marion praises the Bladen county, NC militia for their part in harrassing Cornwallis' troops) Rather than continue to list these individually in the NEW section, I have created a Link there to a section in the History Transcripts entitled "Revolutionary War Reports & Letters of the Southern Department" and placed the items in chronological order. If for some reason the link doesn't work (it did with IE & Netscape), just click on Transcripts at the main index page, then History and scoll down. The main URL is: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~familyinformation/ I realize some may not be interested in the history per se and that there are few rosters, lists, etc. in these reports and if so, my apologies, but the first hand reports by the people who made the history I find too compelling to not share. I particularly urge everyone to read the 4/23/1781 letter from Greene to Samuel Huntington, President of Congress, about the conditions Greene and his army are laboring under. It adds quite a bit to my understanding of what was going on at that time. I hopefully will be adding a few more next week if time permits. I am restarting a LARGE transcription project (over 700 pages-can anyone say carpal tunnel?) relative to the Fetterman "Massacre" in 1866 and really want to get that rolling again in addition to working on this fascinating period of American history. Best of wishes, Billy
