Hello Leah, Rich Valley is now in Smyth County, but according to a land deed I have from 1850, it was once part of Wythe County. While I don't know if that was still true in 1870, it might be possible that your people are listed in the Wythe County Census. That is the only theory I can come up with. Sharon Hanshew-Quillen ---Original Message--- I have researched BOTH Ancestry.com's Virginia Census database index and Smyth County, Virginia's 1870 Federal Census at my local LDS family history center. Ancestry.com's database for the 1870 Smyth Co. census lists: John HOGSTON Nancy C Hogston Samuel Hogston Daniella Hogston Samuel Hogston ALL of the above names are said to be listed/ living in Smyth County, Rich Valley Township's 1870 Virginia census on page 82. When I view the actual microfilmed 1870 Smyth census documents at the history center, not only are the above names NOT on Page 82, they are not anywhere on the Rich Valley Townships rolls. Can anyone help me find these people? Or direct me in a new path in hopes of finding them? I would greatly appreciate it. All good things, Leah Hogsten _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com
