Abstracts of Land Grant Surveys 1761-1792 by Peter Cline Kaylor lists WILLIAM GREGORY, 50 acres, Back Creek, in 1774. Robert Poage, son of Robert, immigrant, and Elizabeth (Preston) was born in Ireland about 1730 and lived in Boetourt Co VA on the Back Creek which empties into the Roanoke River in present Roanoke County. According to some old maps, the Back Creek of Aug.Co is now part of Highland Co VA. Can anyone tell me the difference between the "Back Creeks"?
