Hello everyone, I made a trip over to Russell County Virginia this past weekend. Very happily got permission from the Dale family to hike up and find my ggrandparents old homestead. George and Amanda (Worley) Patrick. They lived in a place my mother refers to as Lickskillet but on the map it used to be part of Hansonville. We took 19 north from Abington left on 58 and then left again on 613 just before Bolton. Is anyone familiar with this area? I am trying to find info on this Patrick line and have gotten no where with it. It was very exciting walking up the cow path dodging cowpatties all the way to that old house. I can imagine what it looked like in its day and it was a very very nice place. I did find out that George and Amanda are supposed to be buried at the Greendale cemetary which I will visit on my next trip, even though I had information that said Amanda went back to Richlands after George's death and is buried there. We also continued down 613 and saw where some of my Uncles/Aunts were born and saw what used to my grandmother Lillie Bell (Patrick) Vencill's little log cabin in an area called Tumbez. I understand that if we had continued down 613 just a little farther we would have come to a small cemetary right on the side of the road that is where my grandfather Arch Vencill is supposed to be buried. I will have to try and go there on my next trip also. We visited Kemper and Tiny (Patrick) Hawkins' homestead on 58 just before the old Bolton store and the turn to 613 also. A Beatrice Hawkins (daughter of Edgar and granddaughter of William Oscar Hawkins) lives in the old Hawkins home and we discovered that we are apparently cousins. (My grandfather was also William Oscar Hawkins) I also discovered that my grandfather is buried in Grassy Creek at a church there and plan to visit that on my next trip. ***************************************************************************************************************************************** Kathy Busch Department of Student Life Guilford College 5800 W.
