I have been searching through the archives of this list and found the interesting information about Arter Dale. I don't know if there is any relation to the Dale family I am researching, but if anyone can help me I'd appreciate it. I have a Elizabeth Dale, born 1823 in VA. But this is her married name. Where I pick her up is in Wolfe Co. KY census 1900 and she is the grandmother (77) living with her grandchildren Dean. I believe her daughter Catherine Dean was the mother of these children. Catherine nor her husband are living in the household so I think they are dead. Catherine's children: this is information from 1900 census Dean William 26 farmer VVV Joseph D. 22 brother farmer VVV Ellen 16 sister sister V James 14 brother V Mahala 12 sister V Dale Elizabeth 77 gr.mother VVV Daugher Mahala is our line and her first name is Catherine also. It has been told that Mahala was 1/4 Indian. That would make her mother Catherine 1/2 and either mother or father full blooded. How accurate the story is we aren't sure. But I thought I'd see if there is any connection with Arter or any other Dale or Dean connection we can make in SW VA. A picture of Mahala we have in abt 1941 does look like she has some Indian background. She married a Campbell in Wolfe Co. Joan Williams
