Other bits of info about this family: 1. They probably lived in Southwest Virginia, Wythe CO, during the period 1840-1846. They may have returned to PA Abt 1842, where son John is reported to have been born. 2. They removed from Southwest VA to Eastern KY, Lawrence CO, KY, between 1846-1849, when Mahala was born. 3. They are listed in the 1850 Lawrence CO, KY, census, and Richard's occupation is given as "gunsmith". 4. They, less Clarinda, who died in 1859, are listed in the 1860 Boyd CO, KY, census, living in Catlettsburg. Richard is listed as a "farmer"! 5. Family tradition relates that this family, less Mahala, who married James Harvey SPERRY, and Clarinda, who d. 1859, may have removed to Missouri after 1860.
