I am researching my maternal family tree -- the Whitt's and the Sexton's. Below is what I know right now about this family. I will be happy to share any information that I can. I hope that someone will be able to help me fill in the blanks (and there are a lot of them right now). Thank you for any help that you can provide on any of these people. Willie Arthur WHITT- Birth 6/28/1901 in Ivanhoe, VA - DOD: 7/12/1962 in Winston-Salem, NC Married Dillie Gertrude Sexton 2/17/1923 in Forsyth County. Children - Richard, James and Billy Whitt Siblings - Harvey, Romey and Robert Whitt Gently/Gentle and Melinda WHITT(unknown dates) - Said to have moved to Winston-Salem in 1912 from Virginia. Unfortunately, I don't know much more about them at this point. These names came from an obituary and I am not sure if his true name was Gentle or if that was a nickname. Dillie Gertrude SEXTON- Birth 11/19/1905 in Grayson County VA. Died 07/24/1991 in Winston-Salem, NC. Married Willie Arthur Whitt in Forsyth County, NC 02/17/1923. Siblings - Ed, Worlie, Garnet, Thelma Cummings, Minnie Brown, Bessie Goins and Minnie Hester. John L. (possibly Len) SEXTON-- b. 06/07/1873 in Independence VA. Died 09/18/1934. Parents are unknown at this time. Susan/Susie/Suzannah CALLAM/Callahan (names are different on every obituary) b. 03/08/1875 in Grayson County VA. Her siblings were Charlie Callam from VA, Cora Nichols from VA, Delia Callam of VA, and Minnie Libbs of VA. It is rumored that she is an indian. I am researching this line. Her parents were said to be Tom Callam and Annie Martin. She married John L. Sexton in (we assume) Virginia. Thank you again for any help that you can give.
