Kreger THEN Deed Book #27, Page 413 I John Wood (Sr) of the county of Washington State of Va. did some years ago make a deed of gift to my two Grand sons, Harvey and Thomas Wood they agreeing to support me and there mother as long as we lived and also there unmarried sisters as long as they remained single and the consideration having entirely failed by the death of Harvey and Thomas having left home some 5 or 6 years and has never complied with any of the conditions of the said deed of gift. I consider it the deed a failure on his part and, Wishing to compensate those who has taking care of me I therefore I give to my grand daughter Mary Jane Wood my plantation on which I now live to have and to hold and to dispose off as she thinks proper and all my other affects with the following condition she is to support me and her mother as long as we live and if she fails to give us our support retain the wright to rent out the land to support me and her mother as long as we live. I desire this deed of gift to be recorded in the county court of Washington. Given under my hand and seal this 6th day of July 1868. Teste N. E. Caldwell Joel Horne John Wood X his mark In the clerks office of the county court of Washington county. The foregoing deed from John Wood senr. to Jane Wood was proved before James C. Campbell clerk of the court aforesaid by the oath of N. E. Caldwell before the aforesaid clerk on the 30th day October 1868 as the act and deed of John Wood Sr and admitted to record. Teste Jas. C. Campbell C.C. We have not found a connection between this John Wood and our John Wood who married Mary Musick, parents of William Wood who married Martha Willis. We call him Naomi's John to tell him from our John Wood. We have Woodson Wood as husband of Naomi and nothing about Naomi's parents. Woodson died before 1850 census, he and Naomi were married 08 Oct 1834, license in Washington Co., VA. Their children were according to census: Mary Jane, Elizabeth, John, Isabella, Harvey, Ellen, Thomas and Sarah. Elizabeth married John Benjamin Fleenor, son of Allen and Sarah Hobbs Fleenor. Marriage license for Elizabeth shows parents as Woodson and Nannie (Naomi, we believe) Wood, John B. and Elizabeth were married 19 Jan, 1858. When John Wood made his two wills, Elizabeth was already married. My ggg grandmother, Nancy Willis (widow of John Willis) married Allen Fleenor after his wife (Sarah Hobbs) died.
