Does anyone know whether there were schools prior to 1870; and if so, were any records kept of students? Researching Eliza Ann BRYANT DOSS, widow of Joseph Franklin DOSS, who had five children, the oldest around twelve. She left (we think Tazewell) and went to Cabell County VA/WV about 1865-70. We're looking for Joseph's place of death and the date, and also his parents. He was born 1827 in Franklin Co. Thanks in advance. Ruth Doss Hanley
