Howdy list; Jewell Ridge Elementary School was built at the expense of the Jewell Ridge Coal Corp. Seven grades were taught there. I "graduated" the 7th grade there in 1945. I think that the building has been razed. It was sited just to the right of the Presbyterian Church which is still active. Teachers were hired by the County, but salaries and lodging were supplemented by the Coal Corp. Stinson Ridge school does no longer exist. My father taught there in the early days, like 1910-1920. This school was closed prior to 1950. In my mess somewhere, I have a copy of the front facade of the Stinson Ridge school. Cedar Bluff Elementary school was located in the town of Cedar Bluff. My uncle was at one time the principal of that school. The Lairds Chapel school was torn down before my time. I remember my parents talking about going to "meeting" (church) at the Lairds Chapel school. My father may have taught there before taking on the Stinson Ridge School. The location is on the road to Bear Wallow, near the intersection of Reynolds Ridge. My second cousin was teaching at the Raven School about two years ago and as far as I know, that school is still operating. Richlands High School is still in operation although the campus has been moved. I graduated from that institution in 1949. The Seaboard School is long gone. I don't remember where it was. David. M.
