Eddie, there was a Camp Breckinridge near Owensboro, Kentucky, up through the 1950s, named for General Breckinridge (for what that's worth) and my paternal grandmother was named after him as well -- Willis Breckinridge Carter (would you believe even with a name like that she won a beauty contest when she was 16).She told me she was named after the general but I never asked why. She was born and raised in Jackson County, Tennessee, but her Carter family was originally from Scott County, Virginia.
