Here is some abstracted data from the Revolutionary War Pension Applications for CROW applicants who served in either VA, NC, PA, & SC formations. I did not do the few from further north. CROW, Benjamin R20353 Lived in Clark county, Arkansas when filed. CROW, Christian S43417 Served in Rev. War & War of 1812. Received bounty land for 1812 service. Resided in Pickaway county, OH when filed. Entered service from Lancaster county, PA CROW, Dennis S39380 Served in VA troops. Filed from Madison county, VA 5/24/1832 CROW, George S40862 Served in PA troops. Entered service from Philadelphia. CROW, John W18978 Served in VA troops. Widow's name was Elizabeth. Marriage bond in records indicate that Dennis CROW & John CROW signed the bond 4/19/1779 (the actual bond is in the record). Elizabeth's name is given in bond as Betty COLEMAN. The application was filed from Montgomery county, VA. John entered the service from Culpepper county, VA in 1776. Served with Morgan's Rifles during the war. CROW, Robert S39365 Served in VA troops. 71 years old at time of filing, 10/30/1822, from Roane county, TN. Entered service from "Fincastle, now Wythe county, VA". First served in Capt. Joseph CROCKETT's company in the 7th Regiment. Enlisted 12/1777 for 3 year tour. Served only 9 months, was discharged early as reward for his part in apprehending 3 deserters. Fought in battles of Monmouth & White Plains. CROW, Thomas R2538 Filed from Lawrence county, TN although he lived in Giles county, TN. Enlisted at place called, "Cross Roads" in NC in Capt. John Montgomery's company, 6th Regiment SC line. [that is what it says]. Affidavit indicates transfer due to his being enlisted by "mistake" by Capt. Montgomer. Pension granted due to service as a fifer in company commanded by Col. Henderson of the SC line. Taken prisoner at Sullivan's Island, SC during fall of Charleston. Captive aboard prison ship Roebuck for 4 months. Due to disease, many prisoners were transferred to a camp on St. John's Island from where he made his escape. In 1821, his wife Sarah was 50 and children Betsy 16, Patsy 14, James 11 & Thomas 6. CROW, William S32196 Filed from Jackson county, OH while a resident of Clinton township. Aged 75 at time of filing on 4/2[?]/1833. Born in and enlisted in Rockingham county, VA. Entered service in Capt. John Hopkins company. William died 1/25/1854 per note on pension card.
