Gordon Aronhime, now deceased, did a lot of research on SW Virginia and put many articles in the Bristol Newspaper. A collection of these articles is in the Washington County Historical Society. He wrote much on forts (stations) and early pioneers as did Emory Hamilton, now deceased. Wilma Smith
The Library of Virginia online also has a collection of Gordon Aronhime's work, on a card index. Very interesting reading - it takes a little time to research, but worth it.
